Canadian Potash Mine Uses Private LTE to Improve Safety

Vertical: Mining

Application: Improved connectivity and worker safety

Ecosystem:  Ericsson, Ambra Solutions

Private Network: LTE

Canadian agricultural company Nutrien mines potash, a core ingredient in most fertilizers. In their Saskatchewan mine, Ericsson and Ambra Solutions have helped them deploy a private LTE wireless network more than 1,000 meters underground. The LTE solution has replaced a patchy Wi-Fi system, enabling workers to stay in constant communication with the above-ground control room, sending information in seconds that in the past would have taken paper carried manually much longer. The network is helping Nutrien improve worker safety and make mining operations more efficient.
