At Belfast Harbor, where over 1.75 million people and half a million freight vehicles pass through annually, the private 5G network serves as the backbone for a comprehensive digital ecosystem. This infrastructure supports the movement of 24 million tons of goods each year, carried by various vessels from ferries to container ships.
The private network implementation delivers tangible benefits across multiple operational areas. Port authorities can now optimize transport and logistics processes in real-time, leading to smoother operations and enhanced productivity. The high-speed, low-latency connectivity enables advanced applications that were previously impossible, from remote inspections that improve worker safety to environmental monitoring systems that support sustainability goals.
