Telkomsel and Pegatron Collaborate on Advanced Private Network for Smart Manufacturing

Telkomsel Pegatron Group Private 5G Network

Vertical: Manufacturing

Application: Smart factory, IoT, real-time manufacturing

Ecosystem:  Telkomsel, Pegatron Group

Private Network: 5G

Telkomsel has partnered with Pegatron Group to deploy a private 5G network at Pegatron’s smart factory in Batam, Indonesia. The implementation focuses on enhancing manufacturing operations through reliable, secure connectivity across production areas. At the core of this deployment, Telkomsel Enterprise is providing comprehensive infrastructure including 1,200 SIM cards for IoT devices integrated into the smart manufacturing system. This robust connectivity foundation enables real-time monitoring of machine performance and precise control of production processes, ultimately driving efficiency gains.

Pegatron, which operates in more than 13 countries, established its Indonesian subsidiary PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia to expand its manufacturing presence in Southeast Asia. The newly inaugurated Batam facility leverages artificial intelligence, automation, and 5G connectivity to align with global Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Wong Soon Nam, Telkomsel’s Planning & Transformation Director, emphasized the strategic importance of this project: “This collaboration is a strategic step in supporting the acceleration of digital transformation of the manufacturing sector in Indonesia. Through our specially designed 5G Private Network solution, PT Pegaunihan Technology Indonesia can increase operational efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness for Smart Manufacturing in the Industry 4.0 era.”

Beyond the private network implementation, Telkomsel has also strengthened the public 5G network at the facility to support employee productivity. This comprehensive approach demonstrates how purpose-built private networks combined with public infrastructure can create optimized environments for next-generation manufacturing.
