Petco Park, the major league baseball stadium in San Diego, CA, has teamed up with Boingo Wireless to install a 5G private wireless network to be used in the 42,000 seat stadium and the inside-the-stadium 14,000 fan Gallagher Square. Applications will include touchless ticketing, contactless concessions, and enhanced security. The 3.5 GHz CBRS network will be used by over 1,000 Petco Park employees using iPads. Usage of the network by employees should free up Wi-Fi bandwidth for an enhanced fan experience.
