Ft. Worth Independent School District Builds CBRS Network

Vertical: Education

Application:

Ecosystem: Ericsson, Cradlepoint, CommScope, Airspan, BerarCom

Private Network: LTE, CBRS

The FWISD, using money from the governments Emergency Connectivity Fund, is installing a CBRS LTE network. The vendors had a core network and four radio sites online within 60 days. Each student will receive a laptop or tablet with SIM cards that can only connect to the school’s network. While the CBSDs are currently mounted on trailers and rooftops, future plans are for them to be maintained on school-owned monopoles, lowering leasing costs.
