NTT DATA and Schneider Electric are advancing their partnership to deliver private 5G-enabled edge computing solutions for enterprises. The companies recently unveiled a deployment at the Marienpark innovation campus in Berlin, Germany spanning over 74 acres. This builds on their previous private 5G collaboration at Schneider Electric’s Lexington smart factory in the US.
The Berlin implementation allows tenants at Marienpark to leverage dedicated private 5G connectivity and modular edge data centers. By processing and analyzing data closer to the source, companies can drive faster insights for use cases like predictive maintenance and supply chain optimization.
For NTT DATA, this deployment represents another example of how they are competing with mobile operators in the private 5G enterprise space. While carriers struggle to provide the network control and customization enterprises demand, NTT DATA offers dedicated on-premise networks with advanced capabilities like microslicing for granular quality of service policies.
