Southern Linc, a subsidiary of Southern Company, deployed an innovative solution using BEC Technologies’ advanced CBRS router. As the central coordination point for fire and rescue teams across four local counties, Alabama Power’s Mobile Command Center required robust, high-speed wireless broadband connectivity.

Southern Linc, leveraging its expertise in mission-critical communications, identified CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) as the optimal solution. They deployed a BEC router, utilizing Alabama Power’s CBRS PAL licenses on Band 48 spectrum.

Within a short period, Southern Linc had the network tested and operational, ensuring seamless connectivity. The deployment was an unequivocal success. The Mobile Command Center maintained high-speed wireless CBRS connectivity. Performance metrics were impressive:

  • Download speeds exceeding 300 Mbps
  • Upload speeds of 22 Mbps with carrier aggregation
  • Total data consumption of over 1.5 TB (approximately 8GB per hour)

This successful implementation not only resulted in smooth running but also opened new possibilities for Alabama Power. The company is now exploring the deployment of other BEC routers at remote office locations throughout its service area, potentially revolutionizing its communication infrastructure.

Southern Linc’s innovative use of CBRS technology, coupled with BEC Technologies’ robust hardware, demonstrates the power of cutting-edge solutions in addressing critical communication needs.
